Photography, Soundscapes, VR, and Mezcal—You’ve Never Seen an Art Show Quite Like This Before
While we at Fashion Unfiltered know how deeply profound fashion truly is, we get it. And walking through the exhibition space, Ilegal Mezcal’s new West Village home, the images, which are each accompanied by different soundscapes created by Gabriel Andruzzi of the band The Rapture, are affecting. That’s not all, though. At the back of the exhibit, curated by Rose Bar’s creative director, Matthew Green, and Ilegal Mezcal’s brand team lead by Kaylan Rexer, there are virtual reality goggles to experience the work in a whole new way—a virtual gallery, set in a stunning, glass-walled space surrounded by swaying palm trees and steep, verdant hills with the work set about it. There is an undeniable urge to wander around the virtual space and explore, but as tempting as that maybe, don’t. You will inevitably bump into some unsuspecting brick wall. If you stay put though, the experience is safe and entirely pleasurable. Did I mention the Mezcal?
